Special Education Support



fasstbrothumb.jpgThe AISD Special Education Family and School Support Team (FASST) provides support and information to families of students in Special Education programs, and to the school staff who work with them.
Support includes:

    • - Training for families and AISD staff on topics specific to Special Education.
    •  
    • - Advocacy and assistance for families with school issues.
    •  
    • - Resources for community services, camps, special topics and funding for family and school staff.
    •  
    • - “Pláticas/Chats” provide parent trainings in both English & Spanish at schools throughout the district. If you are interested in having one at your local campus please contact the Parent Support Specialist at your campus or call us to set one up.
    •  
    • - Coordination of the Family Support Cooperative (COOP) meetings for families. The Family COOP is provided by AISD, Travis County Integral Care, Easter Seals of Central Texas, NAMI Austin and the ARC of the Capital Area to inform and support families of children with disabilities. Meetings for families, services providers and others cover a variety of topics, including:
  • ADD / ADHD Special Education Law
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Behavior Support Inclusion
  • Emotional Support
  • Life After Graduation
